Hello my friends and welcome back to Unshaken. I'm Jared Halverson and I am excited but also a little nervous, honestly, about this week's material.

We've got four really important chapters to cover, but one in particular is, honestly, it's daunting to me because it's one of the most

important chapters in the entire Book of Mormon.

If we can, well, I'll put it this way, can I get real with you for a moment?

And I choose that word on purpose because real is one of the key words that Alma uses in chapter 32

today.

And not just true, not just good, not just important, but real. It's all

those other things too, but if we can get real for a moment to set the stage for

today, I want you to consider when you say you know the gospel is true, what exactly

do you mean by that?

When you hear a child say, I know the church is true, I know my mommy and daddy love me.

When we hear those childlike testimonies and fasten testimony meeting and when we

hear adults use very similar language to say that they know, sometimes we beef up that statement with words like,

beyond a shadow of a doubt or with every fiber of my being.

It's become almost a cultural construct to have to couch knowledge in such unbreakable words.

That is our testimony, that is our conviction,

and nothing can ever get in the way of that.

And yet we see things get in the way of that all the time.

And we see people who at one point said,

I absolutely know at some point later in life struggle in their faith

will step away from the things that they had absolute knowledge of and again, can we get real today? This chapter,

Alma 32 is one of a handful of chapters that, I mean you can hang your spiritual hat on. This is a chapter where so much revolves around it.
