But all those who had categorically refused to change,

rejecting not only these Nephite missionaries, they're Lamanite leaders.

They were stirred up by the Amalekites and the Ammonites to anger against their brethren.

This is now Lamanite versus Lamanite, but stirred up by apostate Nephites.

As a result, verse 2, their hatred becomes exceedingly sore against them.

They rebel against their king.

They don't want him to be their king anymore.

The king converted. The king doesn't want to be a laymanite anymore.
