Hardened hearts and softened hearts juxtaposed to give us a chance to recognize who's going to receive the greater portion

and who will receive the lesser portion of the word.

We get to pick which side we're going to join.

Well in Alma Chapter 14, as soon as Alma is finished with this powerful moving

call to repent, verse 1 says that after he had made an end of speaking unto the people,

many of them did believe on his words and began to

repent and to search the scriptures. Remember he told them? You got the scriptures

before you? You want to arrest him? Go ahead. You want to do some twistification? Be my guest.

And yet the faithful here are saying, oh I don't want to rest them. I don't want to

twist them. I want to search them. I want to see what you've been teaching me.

I want to repent.

I want to begin to.

I love that there's that word.

It doesn't just say, and they repent it, they began to repent.

It can take a while, especially when the life of sin that precedes that repentance has been pretty deep.

But this is the turning point for the people of Ammanaiha, at least these people of Ammanaiha.

So often in what we studied last week, Amulak would give this amazing message and it wouldn't work.

And then Alma would give this incredible second witness and it wouldn't do anything.
