Hey there from CNN. I'm Krista Bow with the five things you need to know for Monday, August 18th.

President Donald Trump called today a quote, big day at the White House ahead of his meetings

with Ukrainian president, Vladimir Zelensky, and several European leaders.

Yesterday, Trump said Zelensky must agree to some of Russia's conditions, including

that Ukraine-seed Crimea, which Russia illegally annexed in 2014, and agreed to never

join NATO for the war to end.

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff told CNN Sunday that at last week's summit with Trump,

Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to allow security guarantees for Ukraine, and some

concessions on his land requirements as part

of a potential peace deal.

What we're trying to accomplish on Monday is get some consensus from President Zelensky

and his team.

And so I'm hopeful that we have a productive meeting on Monday.

We get to real consensus.
