Hi, Dr. Laura. Thank you for taking my call. Two questions for you. First, thoughts on 10-year-old boys playing Fortnite video game.

I have no idea what the Fortnite video game is, but I am real negative about video games.

What an unbelievable waste of time. It is. It is. And unfortunately, the children,

that's their social outlet nowadays. It's so sad. No, it's not their social outlet these

days. It's sad unless that's what you've made it.

No, I haven't made it. I think it's sad. Most children are doing that.

We're talking about your kids and you have total control over where they are and what they can do. And it's your responsibility to make sure you live in an area where there are kids,

that they're in after-school activities like

PE or music and they meet other people. If you are the laziest parent on the universe,

if you think their social needs are met with a video game. Agreed. Agreed. And I kind of am agreeing with all of that. I don't like video games. I don't

like technology with my children. But my son's asked due to his friends. The answer is no. You can learn chess on the net if you'd like, but I'd rather you join a chess club. The answer is no. I don't want you to grow up where your main experiences in life are staring at a screen

and playing an artificial nonsense game with games that were made to addict kids to doing just that.

So by the time they're 15, they're seriously stupid and they don't know how to interact.

Yes. You know what? I needed the validation. I needed to hear it from somebody with

expertise because I'm kind of right there with you. But when they ask, it's hard, you know, but thank you.

My mother never looked upset when she said no to me about something.
