Summary
We're joined by our friend Mark Leibovich of The Atlantic to break down Trump's sinking approval ratings, the approaching midterms, and whether Democrats are overconfident.
We begin by looking at Trump and whether or not his party is feeling demoralized. Al thinks they certainly should be.
We then discuss the shape of the Senate, where Democrats need to win a net of 4 seats to take control, and the House, where Democrats seem to be on track.
Given the close races and election tampering from Trump and the GOP, how worried should Democrats be? And IF they take back Congress, what should their priorities be? Al and Mark agree that the House should leave impeachment alone.

| 0:00.0 | Hey, everybody. We got a great one today, you know, for a change. My guest is friend of the show, Mark Lieberovich, of the Atlantic, who's always great to take a look at the midterms. |
| 0:18.0 | Now, we're five months out, and there's a lot of races to cover. We also talk about |
| 0:24.4 | the parties and where they stand and what voters are really thinking about. It's sometimes |
| 0:30.7 | hard to say if Trump wants his party to prevail. He was asked this week what he thought about |
| 0:37.2 | inflation going up to 4.2%. |
| 0:39.9 | His response, I love the inflation. Now, why would he say that? And an even bigger question is, |
| 0:47.5 | why did he have to put the in front of it? He claims he said it was because inflation is going to go down when the war ends, |
| 0:58.9 | and when will that be? Well, I'm recording this on Friday, and he's saying that a peace deal is |
| 1:05.3 | imminent. Of course, I want that to be true, but I've got to admit I'm skeptical. |
| 1:11.3 | I mean, I really want to be fair to the man. |
| 1:13.3 | No, I don't. |
| 1:14.3 | You wonder why? |
| 1:15.4 | Could it be because he says that every week? |
| 1:17.6 | And if he miraculously ends the war before this episode airs on Sunday, |
| 1:23.6 | I forgive him for putting the V in front of inflation. |
| 1:29.0 | So Trump said about Graham Platner, and this is a quote, |
| 1:33.3 | he's worse than any human being that's ever run for office. |
| 1:38.6 | Why doesn't a member of the press ask him, |
| 1:41.3 | Mr. President, are you counting you? |
| 1:47.6 | I mean, that would be a good way to go out, |
| 1:55.0 | wouldn't it, if you wanted to leave in a blaze of glory. Now, Mark and I go into a number of races, including one of my home state of Minnesota, where I've endorsed Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan. |
| 2:03.2 | The primary isn't until August 4th, so she's still got a lot of campaign to run before she gets |
