From East and West Africa, we were in the Central African Republic where the violence is constant. We go now to the east of Africa and the

success of Shabab so-called and the fragility of the Somalian government at

be Mali or Somalia or maybe simultaneously. What's happened in Somalia with Al Qaeda's ambition?

So it's still the status quo in Somali where

technically the Somali government has this

counter offensive against Shabab, although it's largely stalled and not

making much headway.

In present weeks, Shabab is doing its own sort of counter-offensive targeting Somali

and remaining African Union troops.

The African Union is content to still withdraw by the end of this year.

Their deadline is December 31st of this year to be fully out of Somalia and as of right now they're still

going with that plan. Somalia tells the world that they'll be able to handle

their own defenses by that date.

The Somali president Hassan Sheikh is also announcing that

Shabab will be defeated by the end of this year,

which as we all know that's probably false.
