I do that asking and envisioning with some of the most profound and rebellious thinkers of our times

with these big projects. So it could be a journalist, an occultist, a writer, a philosopher.

This week I have kind of a special episode for you. I would have loved to have

on the radical psychoanalyst, philosopher, and weird scientist, Wilhelm Reich. But he died in

1957 after the U.S. government seized and burned his work. The story of Wilhelm Reich is a strange,

complex, and ultimately tragic and triumphant one, depending on how you want to see it.

Wilhelm Reich is someone that's very special to me as a thinker and has been very inspirational because

he brings together all these different streams of science and analysis and philosophy

and sexuality. And he wasn't willing to let any of them go because he knew that together

they formed a full picture of what it meant to be human and how we could

move forward. Now, like I said, I can't have Reich on, and I would say that I have the

next best thing, but Dr. James Strick, who teaches at Franklin and Marshall College, is not

just the next best thing to write. He is an amazing thinker and writer, all his own. His latest

book is called Wilhelm Reich Biologist, and it's from Harvard University Press and draws

upon a lot of the work of Reichs that had been saved and archived at Harvard, documents that

have never been really seen before or evaluated by members

of the public because they've been sealed in that archive until very recently.
