Summary

Asad Haider, the political theorist and philosopher, whose book critiquing identity politics from a (non-class-reductive) leftist perspective, Mistaken Identity: Mass Movements and Racial Ideology remains a powerful contribution and who was on AEWCH 26, died suddenly in December of last year.

I’ve reproduced that episode as AEWCH 314*, with a new introduction.

Hi, this is against everyone with Connor Abeeb.

Friends, Assad Hader, the political theorist and philosopher, who was on episode 26,

0:11.1

which I've reproduced here as episode 314, died suddenly in December of last year.

0:17.3

Assad was someone I had always planned on being friends with, but I had never made enough effort to really make that friendship happen.

0:24.9

He was brilliant, funny, warm, and so open to talking in whatever direction the conversation wanted to go.

0:32.4

1:30.3

that we talked about, I'm sure he would have had all sorts of new and interesting things to say,

1:36.2

and so would I. It would have been great to talk. I know his imagination would have had something to

1:42.9

offer, some pointing to a path that would

1:48.0

lead us away from the total and deep antagonisms that we're using as bludgeon against each

1:53.0

other right now, because Assad was seeking something beyond punishment.

1:58.3

In a paper about sexuality and rebellion, which he sent to me, which so far as I know

2:03.2

remains unpublished, he wrote, on the internet, the only response that can be imagined to
