Today's guest is an Appalachian Trail through Hiker, a film producer, a writer, co-founder

of their website Backpacking Routes.

She's also a horseback stunt writer or horseback stunt double, I'm sorry, and a Wrangler.

Maggie Slepian, welcome to Pop Bear Hikes.

Thank you for having me.

So Maggie, I'd like to start off here because at first caught my eye, it was this website

that you've co-founded Backpacker Routes.

Could you tell us a little bit about that?

Absolutely.

So pretty much during the downtime quarantine last year, my partner, Jeff Garmier, and

then a third friend of ours in the industry, Andrew Marshall, were kind of poking

around the internet and found this gap in information on backpacking where we wanted to see

if somebody had a week off or three days off and they were in a certain region or they

wanted to go out for a weekend backpacking trip.

There was no real place that this information was aggregated and it wasn't cohesive.

And so you have alltrails.com and you have trail hiking projects, I think.
