Growing up as a child, I love to read.

Whether it was to escape, to daydream or just learn more about something, you could always find me

And as an adult, I'm slowly recognizing a lot of my joy comes from reconnecting and getting back to the things

that I love to do as a child.

So, I've started reading again.

And one book that I love and have read more than five times now is All About Love by Bell Hooks.

And what struck me about this book was the way that the author was able to define love.

Love as the will to extend oneself for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another spiritual growth.

Love is an active will, namely both an intention and an action.

Bell Hooks goes on to say that creating definitions are vital starting points for any journey that we choose to embark on.

This quote had me thinking about the ways in which we personally, privately, publicly define love.

Our perceptions of love are heavily influenced by what we were taught as a child.
