One of my favorite sayings is if it's Tuesday somebody's voting somewhere. Well the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, in any calendar year is a bigger

Tuesday than any other during the year, and this Tuesday is no exception.

Yes, this is an off-year election day,

but I'm one who believes,

and if you look at over time, certainly in the 21st century,

these off-off-year year 2023, the races in the off-off year before the presidential, I think are far more,

far more telling about the national landscape and about what the next calendar year of politics

might look like as far as the American public is concerned, then the off-off-year elections

the year after a presidential. And yet if you judged it by sort of

national media coverage you know the coverage of Virginia governor and New Jersey

governor in the year after a presidential totally

overshadows the coverage of Kentucky governor and Mississippi governor in

Louisiana governor in the in the year before a presidential and usually it's because the national media is

consumed with the presidential primary which of course takes starts a full year

and a half before the actual 2024 calendar happens and all of that.
