Chuck Windall refers to John Chapter 15 as one of the most important messages a Christian might hear. Why is that?

Well today on Insight for Living Chuck will reinforce his claim.

In John 15, Jesus described the flow of our life-giving connection with him.

He used a farming metaphor to make his point.

Jesus said, I am the true vine, and my father is the vine dresser.

And then he added, you are the branches so therefore he said

abide in me if you missed any portion of our earlier programs will begin with a helpful review.

When Jesus Christ became the object of your affection. When you realize that you were bankrupt

in yourself, he was holding out a gift and it is in the person of his son and you

took the gift knowing he paid the debt for your sins, you became a part of the vine.

You branched out as a part of the vine.

Your life then began to be drawn from his life and his strength

and his power, isn't that a great thought? We're talking about life and ultimately the production

of fruit through the life that is originally in the Vine, Christ. Now let's start there. I am the true

vine. My father is the vine dresser, every branch in me.

Pause for a moment.

This is commonly called in theological writing positional truth.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, you are in Christ. He says so, every branch in me.

Positionally, you are connected to the source of life, strength, power, definition, direction for living.

It's all right there. You are in him. But now the emphasis turns from position to production, every

branch in me that does not bear fruit. See his desire is not simply that we live, that we exist calling ourselves believers, but that we

enjoy a life of production of fruit in the living of this life. In fact he spends a lot of time on that.
