John chapter 15, verse 5.

I am the vine. You are the branches.

Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit.

For apart from me, you can do nothing.

Oh, there's so much here.

Jesus saying, I am the vine, which just that imagery, he's basically saying, I am the channel through which the blessings of God flow,

like a branch connected to a vine that feeds off of that vine, that's nourished by that vine.

Jesus is saying, I am the source of life for you.

And then he gets specific, just jump to the end. Apart from me,

you can do nothing. Everything good we have. Everything good we can do all comes from the vine.

And his life in us, which leads to a misunderstanding. I think many people have when they hear this verse.

I think many people read this verse about bearing fruit and think, okay, Jesus is calling me to

bear fruit in my life. When the reality is, in this verse, he is not commanding us to bear any fruit there's one command in this

verse abide in me and jesus says when you abide in me then i am going to bear fruit through you
