I am Karen Hunter, and today is December 12th.

Today is December 12th, literally the anniversary of the hit movie, Guess Who's Coming to

Dinner.

It released on this day in 1967, and it was groundbreaking, not just because Catherine Hepburn

and Spencer Tracy were in it, but Sidney Poitier was brought home to a white household

as the love interest, And it was stunning. Now, Bea Richards was in this

as well. She played the mother of Sidney Poitier. There's an exchange in this. His name is John

Prentice. And I took the opportunity.

I was watching a documentary on B.R. Richards and immediately texted Dr. Gray Carr. And I said, hey, what do you know about Bia Richards? He was like, well, you know, we've talked about her in class with Carr. I said, I know, I know. But can we get on and talk about her? Talk about her? because in this documentary, they talk about,

guess who's coming to dinner?

And they talk about her, talk about her, because in this documentary, they talk about

guess who's coming to dinner and they talk about the power beer riches.

I did not know how much of a poet she was, but also an activist, also somebody putting

everything on the line to fight for our rights and freedoms.

And I love this woman.
