Okay, so one of the things we've talked about on this podcast is that it can sometimes

be difficult to coach ourselves into a more positive orientation or seeing a different

perspective when we're really identified and caught in our inner experience.

We can say when we're kind of relating to ourselves more from a first person perspective,

some of the research by Ethan Cross who wrote the book Chatter shows that when you take

a second person, third person orientation speaking to yourself as you, or in my case

it would be Cory as a third person perspective that is more effective from a coaching perspective

because it's almost as if you are stepping outside of yourself, looking at yourself as

a different being, and maybe you've noticed this in your own life, but it tends to be easier

to point out and encourage for other people things that they might need to do to improve

or how to meet them in a moment of difficulty than it can be to do that with ourselves.

And I think it's a similar thing when it relates to self-love, one of the barriers that

we might experience when trying to show ourselves some self-love is that we're so consumed

and identified with the patterns that we've been going through, the negative thoughts that

we're thinking, the decisions we feel like we've done wrong, the pain that we're feeling,

it all just feels like it's mine and it's my fault and it's my responsibility and I messed
