0:11.0	I'm Jeff Parrot. In the world of martial arts there's this approach to
0:17.1	self-defense where you use your opponent's strength against him or her, leveraging their power so that it's refocused,
0:26.0	redirecting movements of attack to create a kind of reversal in outcomes.
0:31.6	Now while this power reversal is practiced in many different martial art forms,
0:36.3	it's foundational for disciplines like I Kido, Hapkido, and others. The thing I find especially interesting about this reorientation or reversal of power
0:46.7	is how it exposes who's really in control. In moments like this, the attackers think that they're the ones in control.
0:54.0	They're about to deliver the final victorious blow, only to find out that they're not actually in the driver's seat.
1:02.0	They're exposed as powerless. A reversal like
1:06.4	this reveals the one who's really in control, the one who's really raining in the
1:11.8	moment. Esther 8 shows us the power of reversal and the
1:16.6	story of God's people and like the most sophisticated martial artist this reversal shows us who's actually raining.
1:26.2	Now before we explore this part of the Bible, let's slow down and ask for God's presence
1:30.6	to work through our time together.
1:33.7	Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of life and breath,
1:36.8	and thank you for your word.
1:38.6	Jesus help us abide in you as we engage with your truth.
1:42.8	Holy Spirit we ask you to move in and through this time in Esther.
1:47.2	As we read these words, let these words read us and restore us in Jesus' name.
