Let's open up to Genesis chapter 39, verses 2 and 23.

Keep the commandments and we will prosper in the land, right?

Here's the golden question, though.

What does it mean to prosper?

At first, my mind goes to a specific picture of an easy, happy, and wealthy life.

But actually, I could point out tons of examples of real life or church history or scriptural figures who prove that theory wrong.

So if God keeps his promises, how are people prospering?

Well, let's look at Joseph of Egypt. After being almost murdered by his brothers, sold into slavery,

and traded to Potipher, we read in Genesis chapter 39, verse 2,

The Lord was with Joseph and he was a prosperous man.

And then, after being falsely accused of a terrible sin and being imprisoned by that same

person who had grown to trust him, we read in verse 23, the Lord was with him and that which he did,

the Lord made it to prosper. I have found that when I am my most righteous, most devoted, and most loving

version of myself, I am prosperous in many things. I am prosperous in inner peace. I feel abundant

in clarity and joy. And my life is filled with blessings that aren't

tangible. I fully believe that we are blessed to prosper when we continuously keep our hearts

pointed toward God. But just like Joseph of old, I think that we prosper in all of the inner ways that truly

matter most. So I want you to reflect today. How do you feel that you have been blessed to prosper?
