The report comes just before they're set to unveil a statue of their mother, Princess Diana, on what would have been her 60th birthday.

Patrick Jefferson, former chief of staff to Princess Diana, joins me now for his untold story.

Who knew that an inanimate piece of marble could produce so much royal controversy? But as you say, it is perhaps newsworthy because of the perceived rift between Diana's sons,

princes William and Harry.

And I have to say, having known them as small boys, I can see why the story of the

British Royal family, this is news. To have two prominent members of the family like this,

apparently at odds with each other, is an unhappy story. I want to get to that, but I just want everyone at first to sort of understand

a little bit more about you, Patrick, and how you came to know and work for Princess Diana.

That must have been a very, obviously, it was a very significant moment in your life when you got that

job. It certainly was. I was a career naval officer in the
