All right, guys, welcome back to The Man Talk Show.

0:09.9

I am Connor Beaton.

0:10.8

Today we're going to be talking about a man's guide, your guide to mental health.

0:15.8

And I'm going to be sharing not just how do you get from a bad place to a decent place to a mediocre place, which

0:23.3

is what most social media content is talking about. It's like, how do you stop feeling

0:27.3

sort of anxious? How do you stop feeling depressed? And get back to a baseline of just like

0:31.5

neutral. I'm going to talk about how do you move from wherever you are, right? If mental health is you've got a negative 10

0:39.4

being really bad to a zero, which is neutral, to a plus 10 being absolutely exceptional. How do you

0:46.7

move from wherever you are on that spectrum upwards in the scale, right? We want to move up and to the

0:52.7

right. And what I want to say is,

0:54.5

this is an amalgamation of everything that I've learned in the past decade, everything that

0:58.1

I've implemented in my own life and what I try and implement with clients. And I want you to know

1:03.8

that when I started off on my work, I was probably like a negative eight or nine. You know,

1:09.3

there was moments where my mental health was

1:11.7

abusive towards myself. The way that I talked to myself was absolutely brutal. The way I treated

1:17.9

myself was not good. And I was constantly sabotaging myself. And today, I'm consistently, again,

1:24.4

on that scale, on that spectrum, probably a plus seven, a plus eight,

1:28.8

you know, it fluctuates. Sometimes I'm a plus nine, sometimes I'm a plus five, but it's in a

1:33.6

place where, if you would talk to me 10 or 12 years ago, I'd have been like, man, I don't think

1:39.4

I've ever experienced real mental health. And so I'm going to share with you today is how to move from

1:46.1

one place to the other. Where we're going to start is defining mental health. What actually is

1:51.0

mental health? Well, I love this notion that mental health equals mental flexibility, right?
