Today, a challenging conversation with former Secretary of Homeland

Security under Barack Obama, Jay Johnson.

We're in the middle of a crisis on our southern border, the unprecedented surge of illegal

migrants from Central America.

In recent years, the US-Mexico border and immigration policy have

been front and center in the public conversation.

We have an invasion of drugs, invasion of gangs, invasion of people, and it's unacceptable.

But a humanitarian crisis at the border and the fierce debate over the appropriate government response is nothing new.

Jay Johnson was the Secretary of Homeland Security during President Obama's second term from

late 2013 through 2017 when tens of thousands of unaccompanied migrant

children and families were arriving at the border asking for asylum.
