Hello and welcome to another episode of Getting Hammered.

I'm your host, Mary Catherine Hamm.

And it is July 4th week, and I am joined this week by my friend Lauren Stewart, who's kind enough to do this on a vacation week, because it's not a vacation week for anyone in politics right now.

We were not going to do an extra episode, and I'm leaving Vic off the hook. I want him to enjoy his time.

So Lauren's stepping in, a political junkie and political operative who's watching all of this

closely. And Lauren, I know people say stuff like this in politics all the time, but are we

living through the most consequential week and insane week in politics we've ever seen? We might be.

I feel that we are and the number of meltdowns in response to it also reflect that.

I actually think it's been a very good week. I like when the Supreme Court does its thing. I think it's a really

cool part of our, you know, our government, our foundational government, you know, one of the three

branches of government. One of my favorite branches these days. Yeah. Right. I know. They're kind of

killing it. But there has been absolutely, you know, madness going on between, I mean, just over a week ago, the debate and then all of these ruling from the Supreme Court and, you know, madness going on between, I mean, just over a week ago, the debate and then all of

these ruling from the Supreme Court and reactions that are just unhinged is not the word.

Unrealistic is not the word. Like, I kind of feel like I'm watching my Bravo television. I love

to unplug and watch like trash reality TV. And I feel like that is what

I'm watching with members of Congress, people who make our laws, people who are elected.

No, it is. So just to give a brief, where we stand right now on the political, the presidential race,

is that the New York Times is reporting that one of

Biden's allies, Joe Biden's allies, heard from Joe Biden, that he is considering whether to stick it out in this race.

Okay. And I'm going to get to the Supreme Court decisions in a second. I would say that most people in this

country at this point, even the press and Democratic

allies, have serious questions and or understand. Biden's not fully doing the job right now.
