You just don't understand how the fate of an entire program changes when one person took a chance on the University of Arkansas.

Rarely is there one person that can be that person. the University's case,

no doubt in my mind, that's in this program's case,

in this university's case,

But some names get more recognition than others, and sometimes those people prefer it that way.

For over 30 years, Amber Shirey has been a pillar of Arkansas women's basketball,

playing a role in over 600 wins, but never looking for any

pranks.

Yeah, people tell me I have a hard time taking a compliment, so that's probably true.

I'll agree.

Described by others as a silent strong leader, her modesty knows no bounds.

But Amber Shirey is the only one who doesn't praise Amber Shire.

I can't imagine what our program would be like without Amber.

From her humble small town roots

to her record-breaking performance as a player.

She was the head of the monster.
