I didn't realize how in shape you had to be to be a D-1 athlete at that time.

And then at the end he said, hey man, if you just bring your shoes every day to practice as a team manager you never know.

Jeremiah Bonsu is a graduate assistant coach at the University of Arkansas.

He only ever wanted to play basketball, but there was just one problem. He wasn't very good.

He finally made his high school team as a senior only because his friend helped him out.

My best friend Devon Price was asked by our head coach Pete Lippetrapp.

He said, to Jeremiah make the team?

Devon said, yes.

I enjoyed being on team and I didn't play.

You know, I scored one point, one point.

One might think the dream ended there.

But when Jeremiah arrived at the University of Dayton,

he joined the team as a manager, and then fate stepped in.

Guys got in trouble, some guys had injuries, I get a call from our Dobo, I'm thinking

oh this is gonna be a problem, you says, hey, are you the gym?

I said, yeah.

And he comes downstairs and he goes, hey, you know, if you don't mind, like if you have time, like we like to put you on team when he bodies.

And he said it's such a polite way and I'm thinking like are you asking me like I'll do this
