If you've ever gotten really excited about a goal, the new year starts and you lay one out and you think this is who I'm going to be and you write it down and maybe you build a vision board and maybe you sign up for the course, you do the whole thing, and then slowly you watch your follow-through completely fall apart.

If you're like most people, that goal isn't even part of your everyday life

come February. But here's the thing. Our community, we did something really incredible in last

month's class. We didn't talk about habits. We didn't talk about getting up at 5 a.m. or doing a polar

plunge every single morning. What we did was call our shot. But here's the thing

that you need to understand right now. A goal does not change anything. A system does.

We began this year by naming the goal. We focused on what instead of how. Most people will

come up with a goal, then immediately follow through with exactly what they're going to do to

get there. They'll get a bunch of ideas. They'll try a bunch of different things. And because they

don't establish any kind of system to ensure that they actually

follow through on those things, they lose all of their motivation. So there's a really specific

reason that we started off by focusing on what. We started out by focusing on the goal. We really

homed in on the idea of exactly what you wanted for this year, whether it

was a feeling that you wanted to chase or that single one achievement or if you wanted to focus on

future self and how you were going to become the best version of you. One of my favorite quotes

around this subject is from Dolly Parton and she says a goal is a dream with its

work boots on. I like to say a goal is a dream with a sports bra on because we're going to

go run out in the road or we're going to be flopping up and down. We got to no, different thing.

The idea behind this is that if you sat down with me last month and you came up with these really cool ideas for 2026, but you don't do anything to help you actually take steps to get there, then it's just going to be a dream. It's just going to be a fantasy. It's just going to be something that you think

about and that would be nice to have, but you're actually not taking steps that get you closer.

The goal doesn't change your life. The system changes your life. Now, system kind of freaks people

out sometimes because it's not a word that we often hear about in relation to personal development.
