Hi, this is Steve. Ever since we had Sasha Pearl Raveron to discuss Pulp Fiction, we knew we wanted her back.

After a few emails, we finally settled on one of her favorite films, Kevin Smith's Chasing Amy. We were actually about to record it

when there was a sudden seismic shift in the culture. It began with the scandals surrounding

Harvey Weinstein and seemed to grow exponentially,

engulfing Hollywood, the media, and even the federal government.

And of course it was Weinstein that discovered Kevin Smith, and many would describe the film itself as

misogynistic, homophobic, insensitive, and in many ways even more offensive

today than it was when it came out over 20 years ago.

There are also a fair number of people who would describe Chasing Amy as not only really funny,

but even heartfelt and strangely insightful.

Still, all three of us decided to exercise the better part of valor

and postpone our recording for a few months.

I for one really needed time to figure out exactly how I wanted to handle these particularly combustible

topics.

The delay I think resulted in a much better podcast.
