China's President Xi Jin Ping is in San Francisco for a high stakes meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden.

It's his first trip to the US in six years,

and the first time he and Biden will have spoken

since they last met on the sidelines of another summit a year ago.

Tensions are high between the two countries, but expectations for major breakthroughs

from the meeting are low.

U.S. officials hope the closely watched summit will be a start to normalizing communication channels
