Hello from CNN, I'm Chris Debeau with the five things you need to know for Wednesday, November 15th.

President Joe Biden and Chinese President Shizian-Ping are meeting face to face today in a high stakes meeting.

What does the US want to get out of this? Mainly to get the

relationship back on track, particularly when it comes to military communications.

We're not trying to decouple from China. What we're trying to do is change the relationship for the better.

And for China, well she will likely try to bolster his country's troubled economy

and push back on perceived US efforts to suppress it.

Issues of contention between the US and China include military tensions around Taiwan,

China's disinformation campaign, and human rights violations.

There are some issues the two sides came together on already,

including efforts to finalize an agreement to curb narcotics trafficking.

And on climate, the world's two largest polluters announced today

they agreed to resume a working group on climate cooperation

and pledged to ramp up renewable energy production in place of planet warming fossil fuels.

The Israel-Hama's war looms in the background of Biden and

she's meeting today. Israeli forces are currently raiding Gaza's biggest

hospital al-Shifa. The military claims they're carrying out a precise and targeted operation against a Hamas command center beneath the hospital.
