Hey, everybody, great one today, and I can say that with confidence because this is a repeat.

We here on the Al Franken podcast are taking a well-deserved break this week, and by us, I mean me and Peter, it was just two of us.

And by this week, I mean the week of Thanksgiving.

We don't do repeats all that much.

We are contracted to do 44 of these a year, leaving room for eight repeats.

So if just 18% of our shows are any good at all, we feel like we can guarantee a quality repeat.

And this is, quite honestly, a great one.

how Republicans lost their party and gained everything they ever wanted.

And it's all about how the Republican Party has gone totally bat-shit-crazy.

But how that bat-shit-crazy part of the party has always been there.

And you can go back to your Pat Buchanan, who at the 92 Republican Convention said, and I quote,

there is a religious war going on in this country.

And you got your Newt Gingrich, who taught his Republican members how to speak like Newt,

using what we're called contrasting words to apply to your opponent words like sick,

pathetic, radical, anti-flag, anti-family, anti-child, anti-jobs, corrupt, and traitor.

You got your Rush Limbaugh, of course, you're Roger Ailes.

Peters treats us to some Sarah Palin highlights,

and then brings us crashing into the Trump ears

with your Steve Bannons and your Stephen Miller's,

your Marjorie Taylor Greens, and Alex Joneses,

just the whole lot of them.
