What's up everybody? Chris Geth here and welcome to another episode of the Knowledge and Mileage

podcast. Today's guest is the composer East Forest. He has been the leader of underground

0:14.9

sound meditation ceremonies around the world and while his blissful and beautiful wash of electronic acoustic orchestral ambient pop can be contextualized along with Apex Twin, Philip Glass and Sigur Ross,

0:31.6

the fundamental mission of his project is to create sonic architecture for others to explore their inner piece. Thus,

0:40.1

this is a process creating thresholds for the listener to cross over, whether through his

0:45.5

music, ceremonies, retreats, podcasts, meditations, talks or myriad of other offerings.

0:52.0

His collabs and albums have charted number one on iTunes three times.

0:58.2

That's August and May of 2009 and August of 2016. And I've been among the billboards top 10.

1:07.8

Now I met East Forest probably about six months ago now and I got to know him a little

1:15.1

bit more through his partner, Marissa Weppner. And it was funny enough, a couple of times,

1:22.9

you know, I started listening to his music and he'd come up in conversation and then other people would say,

1:28.2

oh wow, East Forest. He's here in Boise, which is now where he resides. I'm like, yeah, sure,

1:33.9

I didn't know he was that big of a deal. I had no idea he was that well known until I met him

1:40.2

and started listening to his music. More specifically, the album that I absolutely love is that

1:47.0

he's collaborated with Ram Dass. And it's a phenomenal album. Little did I know that Ram Dass had had

1:55.5

a stroke and the vocals that he had strung together had a separation of about a minute in between,

2:03.6

or sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes a minute, sometimes longer between each word.

2:08.6

And East Forest masterly edited this together, put music to it, and it synchronizes just amazingly perfect.

2:18.3

Anyway, let's get into this conversation with East Forest today.

2:22.3

I'm sure that you will love this.

2:24.3

It is very deep, so sit tight and welcome to another episode.

2:28.3

You see the same when you're in Europe.
