My name is Greg Kluniz and today we're talking about communication. Communication is such an important part of our everyday lives

from the work that we do and how we communicate with those coworkers to our home lives and our personal lives how we communicate with our kids our partners our family

Whomever it is that we choose to communicate with but how often do we learn how to communicate better? How often and how much time do we spend trying to improve our communication?

For most of us us not that much. Communication is an

important skill but it's one that we just assume we're good at. We have no strategies or tools to improve that communication and we don't

employ any frameworks to make it easier. So today I want to talk about one framework, one way of thinking about our communication that can help us to be more clear and help us to better get across our points so that the other side can better understand us and

we can get what we are looking for from that conversation.

And it's actually a technique that comes. that

from the film industry.

Chekhov's gun is the idea that if a gun is shown in the first act of a film or a play, it should be used by the third act.

This idea allows that gun to come back full circle and give the audience the payoff that they're looking for.

Now this idea started in film and possibly in plays, but I actually believe that it has massive value for general communication.

The idea that we need to be more intentional, more purposeful with the things we communicate

with the ideas that we share and with the things we communicate with the ideas that we share and with the things that we bring up.

By doing so, we allow ourselves to connect more with the people we are working with or speaking with.

We allow ourselves to get our ideas across in a much clearer way.

conversations and in our approach to our personal development we give ourselves a tool, a framework for getting our ideas across.
