Summary

Content warning: sexual assault, rape, abduction, murder, and serial murder.

Charlie Shunick is a Louisiana educator, co-victim of murder, and advocate for missing persons and their loved ones. The devastating mid-2012 disappearance and murder of her sister, Mickey, altered her life forever. Since then, it is Charlie’s tenacious spirit that has carried her through and enabled her to use her voice for justice and ethical advocacy. Although the road has been difficult and at times debilitating, Charlie has navigated the media, the criminal justice system, and the aftermath of losing her beloved sister, with incredible grace. The Broken Cycle Media team is so thankful that Charlie was willing to share her journey, and her incredible perspective of the true crime landscape throughout it.
