Hi this is Steve. The New Year can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but at the Cinephiles, it means a whole new year of films were allowed to explore.

And 2008 was a great year for film, with powerful movies like the wrestler and Grand

Tarino, great animation like Wally and Kung Fu Panda, the hilarious Tropic Thunder, not to mention

in Burgess, Man on Wire, and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

But when we asked our fans which 2008 film they thought we should dig into first, the answer

was absolutely overwhelming.

It's not surprising because this is arguably the greatest comic book movie ever made,

with incredible cinematography, a dark haunting story,

and the most terrifying supervillain ever to step foot on the big screen.

The Dark Night is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Maggie Gillenhall, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, and the late great

Heath Ledger in an absolutely bone-chilling performance as the Joker.
