| 0:00.0 | I'm going to a barbecue and I always end up overeating. And I find it's impossible to hit my nutritional goals. It is so easy just to go after, you know, start with the chips and then there's different apps and then there's another thing. And then next thing you know, you're a couple thousand calories deep in multiple drinks and you're like, why did I do all that? You think, eh, the day's shot. I may as well enjoy myself. I'll get back to it tomorrow. And then that's that all or nothing mentality. I've heard coaches literally say bananas are going to make you fat. This is just crazy. I assure you that for any event, any situation, you can find a way to win. What's going on, everybody? Welcome to the fit, healthy, and most of all happy podcast i'm your coach and host josh |
| 0:39.3 | here with his co-host and co-coach k g and i'm in the house today we're going to be talking about |
| 0:45.3 | the truth about fruit how to stop destroying your progress at social summer events because we know |
| 0:50.4 | they're coming finally summer is officially here it feels so good i feel like we've been really building up summer for the last few months. And it's just so nice to have it here. But we're really excited for that question in particular. But also we're going to be covering how to know if you're pushing yourself enough. And some tips to actually help you push yourself more in your workout. So we have a jam-packed episode. It's going to be absolutely amazing. |
| 1:11.3 | Sit back, relax, grab a coffee if it's not super late at night. And let's jump into today's |
| 1:16.4 | episode with our primary first question out of the mailbag. And that is, I'm going to a barbecue |
| 1:22.3 | and I always end up overeating. And I find it's impossible to hit my nutritional goals. What tips do you have |
| 1:28.9 | to navigate this and stay on track all summer? Honestly, this question is so fitting, especially for |
| 1:34.0 | this time of the year and especially if you're super social like myself, there's a lot of them. |
| 1:38.8 | You know, I've had some people reaching out for multiple barbecues throughout the year. |
| 1:42.4 | People are planning it. I'm getting excited, get to hang out with a lot of great people. And I'm looking forward to it instead of dreading it. And the main reason is because I know how to approach it. I know my mindset and I know how to make it work and fit it within my day. The first thing I will say is going in with a plan, especially when you know the type of people that are there. |
| 2:04.8 | Some friends will have different drinks involved. Some of them, you know, will tell you that they're going to do stakes. Whatever the case is, I always try to save a good amount of calories to the |
| 2:09.8 | point where I'm not starving. And this is very important because when you show up to a place and |
| 2:14.5 | you are absolutely starving and ravenous and there are 17 different |
| 2:18.4 | appetizers out and there's just a lot of different garbage. It is so easy to just cave and to just |
| 2:24.0 | like go down that path of having like 800 calories of just nonsense even before the barbecue started |
| 2:29.5 | or like the foods actually come out. So I always go in with a plan. I know, hey, you know what? |
| 2:33.8 | There's going to be a steak. My friend told me there'll be a nice side that I'm looking forward to. And that's awesome. Maybe I'll bring something myself as well. That's another thing I utilize. But simply put going in with the mindset with different rules you have in place, different things that you're going to do. And knowing your limits and where you want to kind of go with it is the best and easiest thing because it is so easy just to go after, you know, start with the chips and then there's different apps and then there's another thing. And then next thing you know, you're a couple thousand calories deep and multiple drinks. And you're like, why do I do all that? So if you go in with a plan, it is so, so helpful. For me, it's always about the plan. |
| 3:08.9 | And we know we always talk a lot about being prepared. And if you don't have a plan, I think |
| 3:13.4 | you're just the whim of the event. And I think one of the worst things and the biggest mistake |
| 3:17.6 | people make that Kyle had mentioned is going overly hungry, saying I'm going to save a ton of cows, |
| 3:22.3 | eating nothing all day. And then that greasy |
