Today we'll be talking with author Blake Charlton. His first novel

Spellwright about a dyslexic young wizard will be out on March 2nd from tour books. So today we'll be talking

with Blake about how his love of fantasy literature helped him to overcome his own

dyslexia. In addition to being a novelist, he's currently a medical student at Stanford.

I think especially if you know any kids who are struggling with reading, I think you'll definitely

want to listen to this interview.

And Blake is just a really nice guy. You know, John and I met him at WorldCon a couple years ago and he just happened to be sitting

next to us in the audience at a panel and we got to talking and you know

Hello? phone. Good. So first of all, could you tell us a little bit about growing up with

dyslexia? Did you get diagnosed right away and do you feel that the adults in

your life handled your condition properly? Yeah, so it's kind of interesting. I was a member of what some of us call

like Generation Zero, meaning that from the youngest age people suspected that we were

neurodivergent or neuro atypical.
