You know how in movies that portray ancient battles, there would be archers that shoot these

flaming arrows over the city that they're trying to capture.

And the soldiers on the inside of the city are so busy trying to put out fires that they're distracted from the line that is advancing and trying to barge through the gate.

Well, it was a common tactic back in the day.

And scripture says that there's a very similar strategy that the enemy uses against us.

That it's fiery arrows that are pointed at us, that we might be so

busy chasing down the things that we forget the main thing. We take our eyes off of Jesus because

we're so busy putting out little fires. But God has given us armor to counter the enemy's strategy.

Today's passages come from Ephesians chapter 6 for 16 and Genesis 15, verse 1. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all

the flaming arrows of the evil one.

So do not be afraid.

I am your shield, your very great reward.

Let's begin by reciting God's goodness.

Lord God, you are our shield. You are the one who protects us by your very own presence. Thank you
