It's no secret that we live in an anxious age.

And we're offered so many solutions to the restlessness, to the anxiety in our minds.

You could scroll social media, you could chill out in front of a show, you could do

something else that just numbs the mind, but none of those things truly bring a lasting sense of peace.

That's found only in Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, which is why we're told to put on

the shoes of peace as part of the armor of God.

So what does that look like?

Welcome to the prayers of rest podcast. I'm your host, Ashrida Chuchu, and this season we're

putting on the armor of God. And yes, you heard me. Today, we are putting on the shoes of peace. So take a deep

breath and quiet your heart as we become aware of God's loving presence around us and within us.

Today's passage comes from Ephesians chapter 6, verses 14 to 15, and John chapter 14, verse 27.

Stand firm then with a belt of truth buckled around your waist, with a breastplate of righteousness in place and with your feet fitted

with a readiness that comes from the gospel of peace peace I leave with you my peace

I give you I do not give it to you as the world gifts so do not let your

hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Let's begin by reciting God's goodness.

Lord Jesus, you are the Prince of Peace, and it's because we have been justified through faith in you that we have peace with God.

Through you, our Lord Jesus Christ. You're the one who came and preached the good news of your

coming kingdom here on earth. And wherever you went, Jesus, you brought healing and restoration,

the shalom, wholeness of God to all who came to you and believed.

So thank you that in taking our punishment of sin on the cross, you also took away God's wrath.

You are the one who brought us peace with a father. So we praise you.
