The EU strikes back. I'm Roger Stern, Fox News. The European Union says it regrets President Trump's decision to raise tariffs in foreign steel from 25 to 50 percent, and the EU is threatening countermeasures.

Fox's Madeline Rivera has more on the president's plan.

The president is doubling down on these tariffs, even as many of them face legal challenges.

He says the steel and aluminum tariffs will better protect these industries.

Here's what he said to steel workers in Pennsylvania last night.

I believe that this group of people that just made this investments right now are very happy

because that means that nobody's

going to be able to steal your industry. It's at 25 percent they can sort of get over that fence.

That new rate is set to take effect on Wednesday. This comes as the administration challenges

a decision from a trade court earlier this week that found the president

overstepped his authority by relying on a 1970s emergency powers law to impose many of his tariffs.

The court ruling does not apply to steel and aluminum tariffs which fall under a different authority.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegeshath warned our allies in Asia that the threat of Chinese

aggression is real and could be imminent. We are preparing for war in order to deter war, to achieve

peace through strength. Hegs has spoke at an Asian Defense Summit in Singapore, and says Beijing

wants to control and dominate the Indo-Pacific region.

He's also calling on allies and partners in the region to do their part by increasing

defense spending.

U.S. envoy Steve Whitkoff says the response by Hamas to a U.S. peace proposal for Gaza is totally

unacceptable.

A senior official with Hamas told the Associated Press,

the group wants to change the proposal over the timing of hostages releases,
