As always, thank you so much for listening. Thank you for supporting me. And today, I want to talk about the power of self-belief. But I don't want to talk about self-belief in the sense of, you know, just looking in the mirror and saying, I am powerful. I'm confident. I'm worthy. I'm successful. As overly specific as this is going to sound, I want to talk about the power of self-belief when it comes to verbs, the things that you do, and how there's

1:19.3

enormous power in reminding yourself of what you do and creating self-belief from what you do,

1:26.1

belief in your effort, belief in what you're capable of,

1:29.9

versus that of adjectives, versus belief in qualities. Because when you believe in the power of

1:36.5

your effort, truly, you interpret the world differently. You interpret the world differently when you

1:42.8

believe in your effort. And this will make

1:44.9

1:50.7

your self-belief. First, though, to illustrate the point, the foundation of it, I suppose, I'll refer

1:55.2

to a pretty well-known piece of research. It was this experiment done by Claudia Mueller and Carol Dweck in the late 90s,

2:03.7

which basically showed that a small shift in what you believe about yourself, it rewires how you

2:10.3

interpret the world around you. That is, how you interpret setbacks, aka if you believe your effort

2:16.1

drives outcomes, you treat criticism or a rejection or a flop

2:21.0

pitched, a flopped pitch or a no, you interpret those things as guidance. If you believe your

2:26.4

ability is fixed, you treat that same kind of feedback as a verdict. So here's the study. Basically,

2:33.6

researchers first, what they did was they brought a bunch of fifth graders as a verdict. So here's the study. Basically, researchers first, what they did was

2:35.6

they brought a bunch of fifth graders into a room and they had them solve a set of fairly easy

2:40.8

problems. Step one. Then the experimenters randomly praised the kids in one of two ways. One, they praised them
