In today's episode, I want to talk about you having an appointment with your worry.

Now, this may sound counterintuitive and you may be thinking, why would I want to do such a thing?

I want you to hang with me a little bit because this is exactly the attitude that we need to bring to the stressors, the intrusive thoughts,

all of the things that are causing us to clamp down and to become more in the fight or flight part of our nervous system.

These are the things that we need to bring into our world in a way where we are more in control.

So by setting up a specific time or mode, maybe you're going to do this in your journal.

So you're going to be doing it specifically and at a time that is convenient for you when you can give it some attention.

And that way you don't have to be fielding every intrusive thought, every worry, every anxiety, emotion, or feeling, sensation that's popping up.

You can just say, I'm going to get to you at the appointed time and that will be different for everyone.

We'll get to that in a little bit, but I want to remind you that even clearing or moving beyond your anxiety panic will not eliminate occasional worry or feeling of anxiousness.

This is part of being human. You don't need to live down the wormhole anymore, but you want to be aware that occasionally you're going to be feeling out of sorts or off base.

So you always want to be having some way of reminding yourself how you can deal with these worries, emotions, anxieties that are popping up for you.

So what is it that we're going to do? We're going to set aside a specific amount of time and be very specific how we're going to approach it.

It's more about our attitude, right? So much of anxiety is in our reaction and how we are relating to things around us.

So we're going to relate a little bit differently to our worries.

Worry demands our attention and when we deny that worry, or we try to push it away or sweep it under the rug, the worry voice gets bigger, it gets louder, stronger, and perhaps more intense.

One way to pay attention and to not get sucked down the wormhole of anxiety panic is to create a predetermined time in your day where you will address all of these random worries, anxieties, intrusive thoughts, and you're going to do it all at once.

This may seem silly or counterintuitive because you're surely not going to remember all of your daily worries or stressful thoughts or sensations that popped up in odd ways.
