Summary

In this episode we launch into a brand new series to Control Negative Emotions. You'll be guided in a visualization meditation using a technique to reverse negative thinking. I share a technique by Nayaswami Jyotish in this meditation. This is part 1 of a 7-Part Control Negative Reactions Series, Episodes 730-736.

As always, you don't have to do the meditation techniques -- they are simply there to help you transition from your busy day to a state of stillness. The techniques also help to calm "monkey mind," when your thoughts continuously interrupt your meditation.

Welcome to the daily meditation podcast. I'm Mary Meckley and I'm a meditation teacher who shares a different meditation technique every day on the podcast. And each technique is customized around a weekly theme. Well, our theme for this week, and this is episode

The 15 minutes or so we spend meditating together may just be the most important time you spend all day. Meditation benefits you in so many areas of your life.

Well, as we get ready to do today's meditation, we're launching into a brand new theme. As I record this, it's a Sunday and every Sunday we begin

a new theme that we carry out throughout the entire week. So for seven days, we focus on a particular

theme. And in each day's meditation, I share with you a different meditation technique

that you can try out during the meditation.

And this way you're able to really go in depth with a particular theme to really explore it many different ways and to see

So let's go ahead and get you ready to meditate.

Wherever you are, sit up straight.

Make sure your spine is nice and straight.

This helps to keep you alert and focused.

Close your eyes gently and as they're closed keep them slightly elevated.
