Thank you for supporting me. And today, I want to get real. I want to get deep. I want to talk about

loss in life. I want to talk about sitting in the feeling of having lost someone, a breakup with a friend,

with a partner, and what to make of those feelings that you're going through, the objectively bad feelings,

the feeling of lack, the feeling of devastation, the feeling of that void, that physical pit

in your stomach. That's what I want to talk about. I want to talk about what to make of it.

And in the most unforced and non-patronizing way possible, I want to talk about how it means

something really powerful

about you, perhaps a hopeful vision of what's yet to come for you, despite what you've lost.

And so to start, shout out to David Perrell on Twitter, who he tweeted a scene that I remember

from back in the day. It's a scene from Louis C.K.'s TV show. And yes, obviously,

Louis C.K. was canceled for some bad behavior. So this isn't an endorsement of him. But the scene

itself, it's just like a minute and a half, the scene is so powerful. And it's a really good

starting point for this conversation. It's basically a, the scene is a conversation between

Louis, who's going through a breakup and this older, wiser guy. And it goes like this. The old guy says,

So you took a chance on being happy, even though you knew that later on you would be sad. Yeah,

Louie says. Then the old man says, and now you're sad. Louis says, yeah. And the old man says,

So what's the problem? Louis goes, I'm too sad. Look, I like the feeling of being in love with her.
