One of the most difficult and nuanced callings is serving as a board member of a church or ministry. This role is both legal and spiritual, affecting the entire church culture. Very few are trained to do it well.

Sadly, often it is only after a crisis or scandal that people realize the "Board" was not really functioning, trained, or doing what they were entrusted to do.

But the truth is – that healthy, thriving, flourishing churches have healthy, thriving, flourishing boards.

In today's podcast episode, I outline the 7 must-have qualities for building an emotionally healthy board. When your board gets these 7 things right, everyone in your church wins for the long haul.

0:25.4	long time about it, but I've got it down here to seven key qualities. So now a long-term,
0:32.9	flourishing church or ministry has always a flourishing healthy board to go with it.

0:44.6	And so today's podcast is just so important because so much is at stake in building what we're calling today an emotionally healthy church board.
0:52.2	But sadly, it's only when a ministry or a church
0:55.9	goes into a crisis that people realize, oh, where was the board? Or the board wasn't functioning
1:01.8	the way I thought they were functioning. Something was a bit wrong here. And so the reason why
1:07.2	boards are so critical is because they are the ultimate authority, spiritually and
1:11.6	legally, of course, before God for the church and for the ministry. So perhaps you're a board
1:17.7	member or going to be a board member and you're listening to this. I trust you're going to be
1:21.7	challenged, not overwhelmed, but challenged about the task before you and your own growth
1:26.6	development.
1:29.7	Maybe you're a pastor or a leader in the church.
1:35.4	I press as you listen to this, you too will be challenged and pass it on to your board members as well and give you a sense of what a healthy culture church looks like.
