wide-ranging tariffs to match what other countries are charging for U.S. imports.

The president says to ensure the U.S. is treated fairly by trading partners, friends and foes alike.

He'll impose reciprocal tariffs and imports to mirror what

U.S. producers are charged to ship their goods overseas.

No more, no less.

In other words, they charge us a tax or tariff, and we charge them the exact same tax or tariff.

Very simple.

Asked if consumers could face higher prices, President Trump says not necessarily.

But I'll tell you what will go up his jobs. The jobs will go up tremendously.

President Trump has already increased tariffs on steel and aluminum imports and says he plans to impose tariffs on cars, pharmaceuticals, and computer chips.

This afternoon, the president is meeting with the Prime Minister of India.

We have great unity. We have great friendship.

He and I and our countries, and I think it's only going to get closer.
