mixed reaction to a U.S. military mission. I'm Kathleen Maloney, Fox News. Lawmakers are expected to be briefed on the operation that led to the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicholas Maduro as some question its legality.

There's bipartisan disdain for Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro, but Republicans and Democrats could not be more far apart

regarding the motive for this operation and what comes next.

Many Republicans say the administration have the authority to carry out this mission

because they were carrying out an arrest warrant for Maduro and his wife.

Democrats, though, say the administration violated the law by not seeking approval

from Congress and undermined its power to declare war. The president has also indicated an

interest in Venezuela's oil. Vice President J.D. Vans says it's Venezuela who stole American

oil property. And moving forward, the administration pictures a future where oil companies invest in

Venezuela with the revenues benefiting its people. Fox is Madeline Rivera. Maduro and his wife

face serious federal charges. And the 25-page indictment prosecutors laid out how Maduro used

a drug smuggling scheme to line the pockets of his family and top associates. Former Attorney

General Bill Barr, who oversaw the 2020 charges against Maduro, says he's confident there's a strong

case now against Maduro, Barr citing many parallels to the case of Manuel Noriega, the Panamanian

dictator ousted by the U.S. in 1989.

I think he will be convicted, and I think he's looking at sentences similar to, if not bigger,

than Noriega's sentence.

He's committed far more crimes in my mind than Noriega did.
