I'm Julia Cowley, retired FBI agent and profiler, and today I'm joined once again by Cold Case Detective Ben Pender from the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department to continue our discussion of the 2010 murder of Sherry Black in South Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sherry was tragically found by her husband, Earl Black, in the bookstore

In part one of the murder of Sherry Black, Ben walked us through the crime scene

in Sherry's victimology. If you haven't listened to that episode yet, I recommend going back

to catch up. And today, Ben is going to take us through the investigation and how Sherry's

killer was ultimately identified.

Like I stated before, the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services were contacted from South Salt Lake Police Department.

They came out and processed the scene.

They did an outstanding job in processing that extremely difficult scene. And ultimately, one of the things they had collected was they had squawed a

rolled-up map that was on the exterior of that backroom door, not knowing at that point

whose blood was on there, yet did appear as though there was blood on there. So ultimately,

that was swogged and that was what came back with the unknown male.

There was another couple locations with the unknown male as well that they were able to identify.

But it was an extremely disturbing scene with Sherry.

So unfortunately, a lot of the stuff happened to be Sherry, right?

It was it can't determine whose blood is who.
