Tis the season for Tiff to make the annual Christmas slideshow from last year's Christmas

pictures and to want to murder the entire world when she tries to figure out what software

exists to do this.

And the answer still seems to be basically like iPhone and or Apple Photos rather.

And, you know, to quote her a few minutes ago, I can't believe it's 2025 and this is still

the answer to this question.

I mean, she's not wrong.

I know.

Like it's, I'm sure there is a thousand like subscription BS apps that would do this as long as you sign up for a free trial for a $15 a week subscription that you'll forget to cancel. Like, I'm sure there's a lot of that. What is this? What describe what she's making here? A slideshow means just it shows a bunch of photos, one after the other with, with music in the background. Yeah, not necessarily always I went after the other but like, you know, what, so what I photo did a million years ago and what the Apple Photos app, you know, kind of imported for my photo is have, you know, kind of like a nice, like, generator of videos of photos that would also do things like, show like, you know, two or three up on the screen at once and, and have you like, you know, have you able to like slightly customize it. But the problem is it's, it's default picks for how it puts things up is never quite what she wants. So she wants to be able to customize and say, all right, for this slide, look, I love that you made a three-up layout. That's great. But can this picture be this one instead? Like that kind of stuff. Just customize things. And of course, that's like two steps above the levels of customization than Apple would ever provide. Apple's like, we're going to do this magically for you. And this is it. This is all the control you get. And if you want something more than that,

make the whole thing from scratch.

Unfortunately, you know, Apple's versions of it was,

and kind of along for the very early days of the photos.

But like, like everything else about Apple's like desktop class apps, they basically

stop being made in the post-Steve jobs era. And it was also the iPhone era, so we don't really

know cause and effect there. But the effect is they don't get made anymore. Like Apple doesn't

really touch their apps at all anymore so it's

kind of a shame i i do miss the era of like the computer is going to enable you to be this multimedia

hub that's going to like take all of your media from your life and deal with it and and put it

together and make nice things.
