This is Evan Jones, welcome to the podcast. Today we're talking about so-called conversion

therapy. It's a form of torture deployed against LGBTQ people. It's survivors have endured

terrible, terrible experiences and we're speaking to one of those survivors today just

in Beck, an incredibly brave young man up in Scotland, who spent years going through

so-called conversion therapy. And what we do is we talk about how we got there the turmoil

that was unleashed, how he was driven to the brink of suicide and I must emphasize a

content warning at this point because there is discussion of suicidal ideation, but

also how he finally got help, how he got the support he needed, how he found happiness,

but also the devastating long-term consequences and discussing about those LGBTQ people who

are still being subjected to this torture. And we talked to about the government's LGBTQ

advisory panel being shut down. One of the former members accused the conservatives of

creating a hostile environment for LGBTQ people and also the failure of this government to

properly end this barbaric practice. It's a really important lesson and I hope you find
