Summary

BodyBuilding has a huge influence over the fitness industry. The very nature of it is a self-centred pursuit, and in my and Ben Haldon (my awesome guest for this show) experience it can quickly lead to body dysmorphia, eating disorders and anxiety. But, can it be healthy, can we build muscle, get lean and look badass without it taking over our lives and influencing many of our daily decisions? We think so, and today Ben and I get under the skin of the issue, looking at Ben's past experience with body building, his journey avoiding prolonged body dysmorphia and disordered eating, and how we feels he has the right balance and mindset to live and happy, healthy, fit life. This is an EPIC show for anyone that trains and is into fitness. Enjoy.

What is modern day bodybuilding? How has it evolved? What do we know now that we didn't?

1:01.3

Let's say eight, nine, ten years ago, and I also want to raise the question, is it healthy?

1:08.1

There is a lot of body dysmorphia in bodybuilding. I know it because I've suffered from it.

1:14.2

Not on a severe way, but in some form, and I think that brings a lot of anxiety for people

1:20.1

around habits and behaviors within bodybuilding, and I happen to get the chance to speak to someone

1:26.0

on this topic at Fit Expo, which some of you might have come to, and it was a chance to really get

1:31.8

under the skin of this conversation. I thought, do you know what? This conversation has to get on the podcast.

1:37.0

1:59.0

going on. Do you want to give the 30-second elevator pitch, and then we'll start to really get

2:05.5

under the skin of this topic? Yes, we'll do, so firstly, thanks for having me on Ben anyway,
