So for the viewers and listeners that are out there, can you tell us a little brief background

about yourself and what you're all about now?

Yeah, so I was a geeky kid interested in health and fitness and longevity from an early age, like 12, 13 years old.

I just wanted to read about longevity and health and started jogging to school because it was

convenient. I could beat the bus home or to and from. And it coincided with this timing of the the aerobic boom the running boom so in the

late 60s I started accumulating mileage just because I was trying to again beat the bus home from school

and next thing you know I'm fit enough to go out for the track team and I'm winning the mile and the two

mile in the same meets and I'm reading that running is good for the track team, and I'm winning the mile and the two mile in the same meets.

And I'm reading that running is good for you, good for your heart, and you're going to live longer, so that all fit into my plan.

And I started eating carbohydrates because that was what you were supposed to do to fuel all the miles.

So I ate a lot of complex carbohydrates.

I became a fairly good runner.

I was finished fifth in the U.S. national championships in the marathon in 1980.
